This book is a collection of actual hilarious and sometimes heartrending stories in the life of two creative little boys who grew up on the edge of the woods in central Arkansas. It is a great source for "Daddy, tell me a story" requests, and guaranteed to have you in tears of laughter, with your kids or alone.

Ivan and Me eBook David King

Nobody ever wrote a song called "Thank Heaven For Little Boys" and nobody ever will. The unholy, unbelievable stunts that boys get up to may be funny years later, but they take a real toll on their parents at the time. It's also a fact that one boy can get into plenty of trouble on his own, but two brothers close in age will get into four times that much trouble, if not more. What one doesn't think of, the other does.

This hilarious book tells the adventures, mishaps, and mischief of the author and his slightly younger brother Ivan when they were growing up in rural Arkansas in the 1950's. No need for the term "free range children" back then. We were ALL free range and certainly no parent thought anything of letting two boys run loose in the surrounding woods, especially if they were accompanied by a large dog. These two did live to tell the tale and the tales are very entertaining indeed.

My favorite is the story of the drunken bootlegger who saw ghosts and got religion, but the incident that led their grandmother to run from her outhouse with her pants around her ankles was good, too. All in all, it's not hard to see why the author thanks God for giving him daughters instead of sons! If this book doesn't make you laugh, you must be pretty far gone.

OMG, so funny! I was truly laughing out loud while I was reading it. If little boys could still be this creative and adventurous there would be no need for video games. A really quick read in small chapters so it's great for a quick laugh but you won't be able to stop because you always want to read the next one to see what these two were up to next.
Totally loved it, would recommend to anyone.
Great book. I loved it!
These are the kind of stories that my grandfather used to tell me, fascinating stories that illustrate a simpler time. I'm hoping there is a sequel.
I'm not sure why it took me so long to read this book since we traveled with David and Ivan to Africa. Thank you for sharing your stories with us. GREAT READ and so many laughs. Recommended for all ages, well, maybe not boys under 10.
This book should be read by both children and adults. If we were lucky, we had a childhood like Ivan and David. Children could see what possibilities there are for great memories. Laughed all the way through. Loved It!
Entertaining and heartwarming, this book brings back memories from a childhood with four brothers and escapades never recorded. Perfect fodder for a sitcom entitled, Life Once Upon a Time...

This is good reading for all ages. A bit of history and a lot of laughs from a world that used to be and a time when being young was lots more fun.
knowing Dave personally I was surprised to read about things Dave did because he turned out to be one of the finest people I have had the privilege to meet in my life. I can absolutely relate to a boy's mind in what was considered awesome to do but today's boys spend their creative days inside playing video games. Finding resources around you and using them to create new things is how America has become a great nation but it slowly slips away because parents too afraid to let the the kids explore. I hope this inspires parents and kids to go outside and find new experiences.
